Loving What We Do

News! News! News!

Augusta Rose (Austin daughter) at MABA 2009 -  Augusta Rose placed SECOND PLACE (2nd) at her first showring appearance this past weekend (NOV 13-14) at Maryland Alpaca Breeders Assoc. (MABA), which took place at Westminster, MD.  She competed in Juvenile Female White Full-Fleece Halter class.  It was loads of fun as this was Mariska's first alpaca show.

The Khantender Optimo - Ragged Edge Professor (Khantender's only show age offspring at this time) received THIRD PLACE (3rd) at his second showring appearance in his dark fawn full-fleece halter class at PAOBA 2009.  How exciting!  Click here for his pictures.

Photo Shoot -  May 10, 2009: Wimbledon was photographed to show off his handsome and wonderful phenotype.  Our very own Augusto's Austin (Augusto son) is his sire.  He was born on November 3rd, 2008 (Augusto's Austin X A.L. Paca's Venetia).

It's a Girl! -  Tuesday, April 21st, 2009, Laurel delivered a healthy 16.3 pound baby girl cria and an IgG over 3000.  She (Augusta Rose) is sired by our very own Augusto's Austin and all white with no dark recessives.  She is fiesty, independent and very difficult to get to stand still while weighing, haha.  She has Hemingway, Caligula, Oro, and Augusto genetics.  See her fleece pictures below, the first picture is during her first week (bundles/crimp) and the second picture is during her third week (she is now very bright).  Wimbledon, our Austin male cria from November 2008, is growing up handsomely and now has a fully fleeced head and his head looks just like MiraKhan's did as a cria!  We love those heads!

The Khantender Optimo - Ragged Edge Professor (Khantender's only show age offspring at this time) received SECOND PLACE (2nd) at his first showring appearance in his dark fawn full-fleece halter class at MAPACA 2009.  How exciting!  Click here for his picture.

Sad News - On Saturday, December 14th, 2008, An exquisit male cria born out of Simba's Princess Kiara and by The Khantender Optimo parished at New Bolton Medical Center from peritonitis.  This little guy held much promise as his fleece was developing into astonishing little bundles of bright crimp.  This combination holds such promise that we intend to rebreed the pair.  He was assured that he would never be forgotten.

Wimbledon! - Monday, November 3rd, 2008, A.L. Paca's Venetia delivered a healthy light fawn / beige male cria with a dark recessive, (Wimbledon) that is sired by our Augusto's Austin.  He is a little-heart stealer with his beautiful solid frame and phenotype.

Mirella Freni - Mirella received Third Place (3rd) after momentarily being placed into the second position in her White - Full Fleeced Halter appearance at VAOBA '08.

It's a Girl! - Tuesday, October 14th, 2008, Miss Personality delivered a healthy 16.2 pound baby girl.  She looks just like mom and exhibits some of her Sire's exceptional fleece qualities.  Her Sire is Standing Ovations from Mountain Meadow Alpaca Farm in Goode, VA and co-owned by Highland Alpaca.  After much discussion (as there always is) we have decided to name her Adelie (after the Adelie penguins of whom Jill is quite fond of).  Mom and cria are doing great!

Oct 2006: Nuther New Aga Khan Cria - Another Aga Khan cria was born on September 20, 2006.  It was a male, who at this time, has been called MiraKhan.  This name has meaning, because it is a miracle that he is still with us.  MiraKhan was born a full month premature at 11 pounds, showing basically all the preemie signs possible, and found hours after parturation with hypoglycemia and hypothermia.  We have been keeping a close eye on him, running tests, and thanks to some very special people at our veterinary office, he is healthy at this point.  Stay tuned for updates and new pictures.

Update: 26 NOV 06 - weight 29 lbs.

            26 DEC 06 – weight 35 lbs.

            FEB 07 - weight pushing 50 lbs
